The Canny Collar is a simple dog training collar designed to stop pulling on the lead and make walking your dog a pleasure. Comfortable, kind, safe and effective, its revolutionary 'behind-the-head' design makes it easy to fit and simple to use, transforming even the worst pullers into happy, well-behaved pets. No wonder the UK Pet Product Retail Association voted it 'Best New Product' shortly after it was launched.
The Canny Collar is simply a standard collar, generously padded for comfort, with a single of material (the slip line) going over your dog's nose. This means he is free to breathe freely, open his mouth and enjoy his walk as much as you want him to. There is less material to restrict his mouth which also allows him to get used to the Canny Collar very quickly.
A Headcollar is designed to help stop your dog pulling. It can often be an effective "quick fix" but you should be aware that a Headcollar does not usually teach your dog to stop pulling and training should be done in conjunction with using the Headcollar otherwise the dog is still likely to pull when the headcollar is not in use. Whilst a good fitting Headcollar can be hugely helpful, dogs often need a bit of time and help in getting used to wearing it. Because the Canny collar is different to some standard headcollars, in its behind-the-head design it can be less likely to ride up into your dogs eyes and less likely to cause discomfort than some other styles. Whilst it is not harmful to the dog it can be an unusual sensation.

How does it differ from other dog training equipment designed to stop pulling on lead?
Firstly, the Canny Collar fastens behind the head rather than under the chin. The immediate benefit of this is that there is no yanking your dog's head to one side or riding up into his eyes. When you are positioned below an animal (such as a horse) it would make sense to lead it from under the chin. However, the horse rider will control the horse from behind the head which makes more sense if you are above the animal. This is why the Canny Collar is unique amongst dog training collars. Secondly, the Canny Collar is a dog training collar rather than a dog restraining collar. It can be quickly and easily switched into a regular dog collar and lead by alternately flicking the slip line on and off your dog's nose. By doing this you can use the Canny Collar like a 'dog training lead' eventually training your dog to walk on a conventional flat collar.
