  • Lumitube collars

The Lumitube light up collars have arrived!!! The response to these in previews has been extremely positive so we are expecting great things from this product! They are available in store and online now (full price and size details available on the website). They are lightweight and 100% waterproof and are available in two lengths and the tubing can actually be cut to size creating the perfect fit for any dog. Quick release connectors allow the collar to be assembled and disassembled in seconds and, when fitted correctly, the Lumitube should slip on and off a dog’s head without needing to undo the loop. It is powered by just one AAA battery, which is included, and replacements are inexpensive and widely available. The collar contains two powerful LEDS which create an ultra-bright, even glow around the whole neck. This gives superb 360-degree visibility, unlike flashing collar attachments that are only visible from the front. These are a complimentary collar and a lead cannot be attached to it. They must be used alongside an existing collar or harness.

The lumitube is available in green, dark blue, red or purple.

  • Malamute Fun Day

Alaskan Malamute Rescue have asked us to share details about their Fun Day being held on Sunday 28th Sept at Strathyclyde Park. We are donating some goodies for their raffle and we also plan to support AMCUK by collecting goodies for the dogs in their care after our Edinburgh Street Dog Collection Appeal is finished. Here is more info from AMCUK about why they are doing the fun day:
"There are currently 17 dogs in rescue all in need of homes, 7 based in Glasgow. Many of them were abandoned by a couple who had over 40 dogs. They've needed lots of care and attention as over half of them had never had any human contact. They came in to rescue underweight, scarred, fur stained in urine, and very frightened. The others came into rescue in slightly more positive circumstances. All of them have their own personalities and characters. The fun day will raise money for their care, food, boarding, vet care, training, and anything else they need. We are also accepting donations for raffle and tombola. And people are welcome to donate toys, blankets etc directly to the dogs via drop off at the Fun Day.
All proceeds from the fun day will go directly to help the dogs in our care, and rescue is run entirely by volunteers, we would be very grateful for anything received. "

  • The Engage-Disengage Game

We have been working on Sam's reactivity around other dogs a lot this week and we have been practicing the "Engage-Disengage Game" when out on walks. For anyone else with a reactive dog we thought this may be helpful to share the handy article from Karen Pryor Clicker Training with the accompanying info-graphic from the fantastic Lili Chin at Doggie Drawings.
