  • More patient customers :-)

This morning we shared a photo of Pacha doing a fabby "leave it" before tucking into her pizzle.  We have now had some other great photos of other doggies waiting to tuck into their goodies that we just had to share   We also explained that Impulse control is an important skill to work on with your dog and we have again attached the great video from Kikopup showing how you can work on a "leave it" (just in case folks didn't see it this morning and would find it useful).  Thanks to Dan, Holly and Alison for sharing these great pics! https://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DpEeS2dPpPtA&h=sAQF7Unm-&enc=AZPhPlpyk7n3FqOR5PA5iSzvVF41uTrmwQJDv0NcUWlYX_4CjaRsf-3rhvcGLW7EKthAzQ4mvwKLW1zorgBFSQ7ymByFvieExAEkCCEyAJQVquOjsSCAF756lkwIdKWNvKyoHRmftHQ9x-syws4xkMYt&s=1

  • Pacha showing her "wait"

Thanks to Carron for this photo of Pacha doing a lovely "wait" before being able to tuck into the pizzle she got from the shop yesterday.  Has anyone else taught their dog a "wait/leave it" command?  We would love to see your photos   Impulse control is an important skill to work on with your dog and we have also attached a great video from Kikopup showing how you can work on a "leave it" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEeS2dPpPtA

  • Sprinkles (TM)

Has anyone else tried Sprinkles (TM) with your dog yet?  We are planning a session with our dogs tomorrow and know one of our colleagues, Jane, speaks highly of this tool.

By using their primary sense - Smell - and their strong seeking & hunting instincts, dogs are able to exercise their brains, fulfill their working drives, build confidence in their abilities, and sleep deeply afterwards - thus helping to reduce long term stress levels. More information is available via the link below and there is also a Facebook Group too

  • Channel 4's Dogs Their Secret Lives

We didn't manage to catch Dogs: Their Secret Lives on Channel 4 tonight but we plan to watch it on catch up. Tonights episode was about aggressive dogs and we understand that the programme provided useful background information and sensible advice on seeking appropriate behavioural guidance.  Did anyone else watch it.  What did you think?

  • Winners of the Charity Calendar Competition chosen!

Cheryl from Edinburgh Dog Photography has now selected the final 24 photos to feature in our 2015 Charity Calendar and we have updated the album to show all 48 winning entries now.  Next step - getting the calendar to print.  Watch this space...

Thanks so much again to everyone that took part.  Sorry if your dog didn't make it this year - but there is always next year!?

Thanks again to Cheryl for her help (we were so grateful not to have to make the hard decision on winners.  Cheryl said ""Oh boy it was really hard to resist the many gorgeous images of dogs and puppies entered, you naughty people, what a fabulous response. Choosing just 24 was harder than you may think, but thanks to a 'tough love' approach I managed to get it down to these brilliant photos.""

  • New homes needed for polystyrene boxes!

Our Natural Instinct food is sent to us in polystrene boxes to keep it frozen.  These boxes used to be collected again by Natural Instinct for recycling but they are no longer offering this service.  When we have enquired about recycling via our trade waste company or via the council we have been advised these will just go to landfill.  We don't want this to happen and do not plan to put these out as general waste.  We are now trying to get creative and think of other uses.

If anyone has any bright ideas for recycling or if any other local small business or rescues could use these we would love to hear from you.
