Just Dogs was established in December 2006. We at Just Dogs are devoted dog owners and dog lovers and our ethos was to offer "doggy" people the chance to visit a shop that would offer a great selection of quality and unique dog accessories and supplies . Whilst the online doggy market proves popular, we wanted to give dog owners the opportunity to be able to visit the shop, see the products, get the right advice and try them out before purchasing.
After the launch of the shop in Edinburgh it was time to offer our products and quality services to a wider market and in May 2007 the Just Dogs online shop was launched. We pride ourselves on offering in depth and honest product information on our online shop and we are always at the end of the phone or e-mail if you need extra help with your order.
Our shop in Stockbridge, Edinburgh provides a good opportunity to mix with like-minded people. Who knows, you and your four legged friend might meet a dog walking companion or dog sitter on one of your visits to the shop!
Not only do we pride ourselves on our wide range of practical products and comprehensive and friendly advice but we also offer the following additional services:
- Dogs are, of course, welcome to the shop
- Free Local Home Delivery (when you spend over £25 and live in the EH3/EH4 postcode areas). This service is available Tues - Fri (we do not deliver Sat/Sun/Mon) and orders must be placed a day in advance to allow us to schedule our deliveries for the day.
- £3.99 delivery for all other areas in Mainland UK or free if you spend over £50 (usually on a next day delivery service if your order is placed before 12 noon)
- Carry to car service if you park outside the shop
Our staff include qualified trainers and behaviourists. This means that we are able to provide competent advice regarding training, behaviour and nutrition (although we would always recommend seeking personal assistance from a qualified trainer/behaviourist for any complex advice). It is incredibly important at Just Dogs to offer a personal, tailored service to customers and this is central to the way the business is operated.
At Just Dogs we encourage the use of positive techniques in training your dog as we believe that this strengthens the bond between dog and owner and also encourages dogs to respond because they want to and not because they have to or because they are afraid.
We hope that you will enjoy browsing our site. Our products are regularly updated and we often have special offers and promotions available. We try to keep our prices as competitive as possible and you will notice that often products are available below the RRP. If you don't see what you are looking for please don't hestitate to get in touch with us and we will try our best to help you source the right products. Just Dogs also offer a wide range of leading reputable brands including Puppia, Red Dingo , Kong, Ezydog and much more .
Just Dogs promotes responsible dog ownership and all our practical doggy products are accompanied with useful guidance, tips and messages to bring home the importance of looking after your dog in the best possible manner.
Just Dogs are proud to do a lot of charitable fundraising and are delighted to announce that our THREE charities of the year for 2015 are Beagle Welfare UK, Jack Russell Terrier Rescue UK and Romanian Underdogs (Love Underdogs). These were nominated by our customers. We have a fundraising schedule and will keep our customers up to date on how we are progressing towards our £3,000 target. In 2014 we supported Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, SOS Animals UK and Wood Green Animal Shelters and raised over £3.000. In 2013 we supported the The Oldies Club and Scottish Greyhound Sanctuary and raised £3332.70. In 2012 we fundraised for Staffie Rescue Scotland and Scottish SPCA and raised £3,084 and in 2011 we raised funds for Many Tears Rescue totalling £1,205.
We are proud that our full team are a group of true dog lovers, who are happy to provide additional support and advice whenever appropriate.
Being able to come in to the shop and chat through what you are looking for can be useful and the team will look forward to welcoming you and hearing what sort of products you would like to see going forward. If you are looking for some general doggy advice, we are happy to chat through any issues where possible or to provide details of Vets, Dog Walkers, Trainers or Behaviourists in the area
Gemma runs and owns the shop . The business is a true passion and vocation and her continuing studying and professional development means you can expect tailored advice when required. You may also get a chance to say hello to Gemma's own dogs, Daisy and Sam, who sometimes pop along to the shop and who both love to get a chance to say hi to visitors!
Jane joined our team in March 2013. Jane is a passionate dog lover and has been involved in canine rescue organisations for a number of years. She has four rescue Sighthounds of her own: Molly, Sandy, Dennis and Gizzy. Her work as a dog walker/carer and her voluntary work as a fosterer has given her experience of a wide range of doggy issues and Jane also has a passion for positive dog training and behaviour. Jane accompanies one of her rescue Sighthounds, Sandy, doing his voluntary duties as an official Therapet (he loves it).
Christina joined the team in June 2014 and she works in the shop on Fridays and Sundays. Christina is owned by Indie the Yorkie and Layla the Whippet and is passionate about dog behaviour and nutrition and is, like all our team members, doggy daft. She is pictured here with her family dog Jeannie.
Christina will officially become a "Karen Pryor Academy Training Partner" in November 2015 and has set up her own dog training business "Wells Trained". Christina is offering Private Consultations and Group Classes in Edinburgh will also be available soon. Christina's classes will be focussing on Clicker training ensuring that the training techniques are force free, effective and fun.
Laura joined the team in August 2016 shortly after completing her Masters degree in Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law. Laura has worked with and studied wild animals around the world and is a director of a primate NGO in Peru but her main passion has always been for dogs. Laura also runs her own pet care and dog walking business Regent Pet Care, catering for pets of all shapes, sizes and species.
